It\u2019s safe to say that delivery has become a crucial touchpoint for a retailer&#8217;s brand and image. It is often the only touch point with \u201ca person\u201d throughout the purchase process. Those fleets vary by types of vehicle, geographical coverage, delivery SLAs they can support, capacities etc. The surge of online shopping and the diversification of consumer purchases will only raise these complexities.<\/p><p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-carrefour-uber-idUSKCN24S0QK\">expansion<\/a>\u00a0of retail delivery services through shared economy\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/posts\/deliveroo_heretodeliver-activity-6735567595585458176-_fDw\/\">channels<\/a>\u00a0has its pros and cons. It allowed retailers to expand their offering, but it also added complexity and increased the need for flexibility when managing orders through diversified logistics providers.<\/p><p>Coincidentally, a recent\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reutersevents.com\/supplychain\/supply-chain\/3pl-providers-and-shippers-struggling-improve-agility-infrastructure-and-workforce\">study<\/a>\u00a0by Reuters Events Supply Chain found that\u00a0<strong>42% of retailers have not made changes to improve their flexibility<\/strong>\u00a0these past five years.
